FEATURING 2 West Virginia strikers live and in-person! Over 30,000 West Virginia teachers and school personnel struck and won. Governor Justice announced a rotten deal on last February 27 that he hoped would end two-day old strike, but rank-and-file teachers insisted that the core issues, most notably rising healthcare costs and their demand for a 5% raise remain
unresolved. After meetings and discussions across the state, all 55 counties remained on strike for more than a week. Solidarity across West Virginia has been immense: teachers have made sure that students who rely on free meals at school are fed and
families have turned up in support of their teachers. Thousands of defiant workers occupied in the Capitol building to press for their demands.
In a moment when the Supreme Court’s Janus case threatens to break the back of the unions, rank-and- file workers of West Virginia are showed a way forward. Come to a meeting to hear on
the ground reports from strikers themselves, talk about how to build solidarity and what lessons we can learn from this struggle. Bring a co-worker, friend or classmate and spread the word wide.
