What is the Prison-Industrial Complex?
February 14 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm UTC-5
Massive populations of people are locked away in concrete boxes. Most of them are poor. Mosts of them are black or hispanic. All the while, the prison industry profits.
The US incarceration rate has swollen from 500,000 to over 2.2 million in the last 37 years. This is the result of capitalist and racist ideology that blames poverty on the poor and uses that blame to justify cuts to support for communities that need it most.
There is hope, though. Come to this week’s ISO meeting for a discussion about the socialist alternative and how you can get involved in fighting for a world without prison cells.
